Day 41 - 42 – February 15-16, 2015

The reason I have not posted is that since we left Sydney the internet bandwidth has not been enough to support the uploading of pictures, or of me doing my class. Not a good thing.

For these two days we have been in Adelaide, Australia. The first day we went on a tour arranged by someone on Cruise Critic and it went through the Barossa Valley. This is a large valley filled with vineyards. I think there may be as many as 70. Most are small vineyards that produce very expensive ones. They also have some of the bigger ones here like Jacobs Creek. But their grapes are not grown in the Barossa Valley but in the hills. If you look at wines like Jacobs Creek and Yellow Tail you will see they are from Southeast Australia, not Barossa. But, as our driver said, 80% of the wine consumed in Australia is the commercial kind and 80% of that wine is consumed within 24 hours of it being bought. They drink a lot of beer and wine here. I believe they said that Australia consumes the second most amount of beer. We visited 4 wineries here and enjoyed the day. We had lunch at one of them. Everything was perfect.

The second day we opted not to go into town (Adelaide), we felt we had seen enough towns that were beginning to look alike and it was a 45 minute tram ride. So, we walked from the ship along the shore for about two miles and back. It was gorgeous, beautiful homes and beautiful marinas. We stopped at a bar recommended by our tour guide from yesterday and had a couple of beers. Yesterday it was 97 and very hot. Today it was probably in the 70’s, but there was quite a breeze, so felt great.

We are off for two sea days at sea and then will be in Perth where we will do a ships tour to an animal park and a river cruise on the Swan River.
